Inspiration

After seeing many stories of people who were unable to succeed in school due to poor funding of their school, we knew that if we were able to provide these people with the same services that others had, they would have a better chance at living a higher quality of life.

What it does

Using data analysis, we group our users based off their similarities (similar grades, income, location, strengths, goals, etc). Since these groups are similar, they would be able to attend and share services by sharing the cost that they otherwise wouldn't have been able to afford. The objective its to connect these groups with a professional, and during this consultation they set up a sustainable, cost effective program. Our platform can be used for repeated use if additional support is needed, however, the main goal is to allow these children to have a concrete plan that they can follow, as well as setting them up for free resources( Online courses, tutoring at YMCA, etc)

How we built it

We built a prototype of splitting the students into groups by grade and displaying that, also displaying each individual student. We did this by using the template provided and using chatGPT to understand it further and add new elements.

Use of AI

We used AI as a way to explain some of the functionalities of our code and github. We further used AI to make our code easier to read and we used it to generate a csv file to simulate the users that would be using the code.

Challenges we ran into

We had difficulties running streamlit for the first time and it was slightly difficult to understand as it was new to us. Also, after getting our initial idea done, we had difficulties creating a concreate plan of action that would produce a product that matches the theme of the hackathon.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of presenting a unique way to provide professional support to those who need it at a fraction of the cost, without sacrificing the experience each individual gets. Also, we are proud that we were able to sort these students into groups as this shows that this feasibility of this idea and how it has the potential to be taken further.

What we learned

We learned how to manage our time and split our work, as well as how to resolve difference of ideas between team members. We also learned how to collaborate while coding and how to make sure both of us were able to contribute. Furthermore we learned about the education disparities around the world too and how in some places education is seen as a luxury.

What's next for EduCare

We used a small sample for the csv file and only split up the students by grades, what is next is splitting up the students by even more specific standards and adding more information to the csv files to better assess each group and to use every piece of information to create groups of 10-20 that have many similarities.
