Inspiration

While serving OXy as a vendor at Innovation Analytics and Synergy Technology Solutions, I watched SMEs in Oman struggle with:

  • Sky-high legal fees that delayed deals
  • Manual, error-prone contract reviews
  • Fragmented compliance workflows That frustration sparked the idea for a friendly, AI-driven legal co-pilot.

What it does

  • AI-Powered Document Review: Summarizes key terms, flags deviations from Omani law or your own policies, and highlights hidden risks in seconds.

  • Specialized Agent Personas:

    • Lawyer Agent checks clauses against local statutes.
    • Business Analyst Agent extracts commercial impacts.
    • Accountant Agent surfaces financial and tax insights.

  • Secure “Legal Brain” Repository: Version-controlled, searchable hub for contracts, policies, and regulatory updates.

  • Compliance Automation: Tracks renewal deadlines and regulatory changes, sending proactive alerts.

How we built it

  • Solo Development in 25 Days: I wrote 50 000+ lines of code end-to-end.
  • Tech Stack: Next.js & React frontend, Next.js serverless APIs, PostgreSQL via Drizzle ORM, and custom LLM modules fine-tuned on Omani laws.
  • Beta Prep: Closed-release to early contacts; public beta set for August 1.

Challenges we ran into

  1. Evolving Regulations: Building a “regulatory pipeline” to ingest and version law updates in real time.
  2. Tuning AI Precision: Balancing risk-flag sensitivity to avoid both misses and noise.
  3. Enterprise-Grade Security: Architecting a tenant-aware, auditable environment without sacrificing usability.
  4. Earning Trust: Designing clear “why this flag” explanations and full audit trails.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Solo-shipping a functional MVP in under a month.
  • Coding and integrating three distinct AI agent personas.
  • Pre-loading an extensive library of Omani templates and playbooks.
  • Securing feedback from 10 pilot organizations before beta.

What we learned

  • Local Nuance Matters: Country-specific laws and bilingual needs can’t be an afterthought.
  • AI as a Technical Aid: It should empower experts, never replace judgment.
  • Security Is Non-Negotiable: True enterprise adoption hinges on data trust and control.
  • Iterative Feedback Is Key: Partnering with real users accelerated our AI calibration.

What's next for LegalACT

  • August 1 Beta Launch: Open public trials at qanoonact.com.
  • Rapid Iteration: Incorporate beta feedback to refine UX, expand agent capabilities, and harden security.
