Inspiration
We were inspired by the 'Legacy' theme to consider the impacts of generations of lives within a family. When put together, these lives tell a story which leaves a lasting impact.
What it does
Allows the user to input information about their relatives, passed and living, including the relationships between them.
How we built it
We used version control tools and specialist interface modules to work on our application together as a team.
Challenges we ran into
Initially, we planned to webscrape social media pages for names and locations associated with a family, potentially putting people in contact with their long lost relatives. However we ran into ethical difficulties and felt it would be wrong to continue the the project. We then changed the scope of the project to the above.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We worked very hard, but struck the right balance between programming and breaks.
What we learned
We improved our python skills, particularly file handling.
What's next for Ancestral Tree Record
We considered hosting the ability for photo storage on the cloud.
