Inspiration
Food waste is a huge issue in the United States. As much as 60% of our domestic food supply gets thrown away. Our app, Leftovers, connects restaurants, grocery stores, and other food suppliers with food banks to reduce wasted food. Food suppliers can sign up to our app and submit a form whenever they plan on throwing away food. Local food consumers like food banks can sign up to our app and see any suppliers giving away food in a 10 kilometer radius. They can claim orders to indicate to the restaurant that someone is coming to pick it up. All work is done by the food consumer, lowering the barrier of entry for food suppliers to fix the food waste crisis.
