Inspiration
We are broke college students with too many leftovers in our refrigerators. In our experience we often end up throwing these leftovers away. With this being said, we decided to create "FlavorLens" as a way to reduce food waste and save money.
What it does
FlavorLens takes in an image, processes it, and returns recipe ideas with their respective links.
How we built it
We used FastAPI, Google Cloud Vision API to process images, and Spoonacular API to get recipes. We then used python for backend, and html and css for frontend.
Challenges we ran into
Linking the frontend and backend as well as deploying the web server.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting the API to work, this was our groups first time working on a website and APIs. It was also our first time coding in html and css.
What we learned
How to use APIs, how to make a website, how to work with backend and frontend, github, and working in a short timeframe.
What's next for Flavor Lens
Deploying to an actual live website. Using multiple images at once.
