Inspiration
In the present situation many pupils and students are forced to learn and work from home where they can't see their friends as often as they want to. People suffer from these circumstances in their social life. The interaction in university or school is gone. We, eight students at the University of Hamburg, have realized this too and strive to offer a tool to make social interaction during online classes easier. Timing can be complicated when watching lectures together, especially if someone wants to stop or skip. This is annoying and disturbes the mutual learning experience, so this is why our website allows you to watch videos together in real time.
What it does
Lecture2Gether is a website where you can watch videos with your friends and fellow students. It's primarily designed to watch lectures from Lecture2Go and YouTube, sites that many universities use to upload their teachings. Besides these you can just as well watch other video streams (mp4, ogg, m3u8) if you want to.
What we learned
For many of us this was the first hackathon. It became apparent that the separation into different task forces was a wise idea to cope with the limited time. Furthermore, pair programming via Discord with screen sharing is a pretty convenient way to code. Of course, everyone of us has learned a lot for themselves.
