Paragraph: Our project is a game where the main character is LeBron CONNECTION James. In our CONNECTION game, the CONNECTED basketball court has had a power CONNECTION outage, and the only way to restore the power is to fill in the three missing chicken nuggets on the generator and CONNECT the power back. The objective is to complete games and find chicken nuggets and turn on the lights in the basketball court. While playing, you can hear LeBron’s favorite music playing in the background. The first game is where you need to find a set of boxes and CONNECT the correct ones to receive your nugget. The next game is a game of pong against an AI, and when get the ball past the AI, you receive your nugget. Finally, you need to make the CONNECTION that there is a missing nugget, and you need to find it hidden somewhere in the game. After you find each nugget, you take it and put it in the correct spot on the generator, which CONNECTS one set of wires to help restore power. When all three wires have a sufficient CONNECTION, the lights will come back on through the power of CONNECTION, and LeBron will be happy again. With the lights restored, LeBron can finally lock in and CONNECT to the game of basketball and absolutely demolish Steph Curry again in the CONNECTIVE game of basketball
Inspiration
The LeBron presentation, alongside Undertale, inspired my team and me to make this project.
What it does
It is a top down viewpoint indie game. In concept, it is similar to Undertale. There are puzzles to solve which provides you with "nuggets." These nuggets are used to open the finale which allows LeBron to finally turn on the power again and play his game to destroy curry.
How we built it
Turbowarp was mostly used alongside pixilart and other internet sound effects and of very own custom made soundtracks.
Turbowarp is an extension of Scratch. We used custom built JavaScript extensions in order to extend the programming abilities of just regular scratch allowing it to be more like a game engine rather than a simple scratch project.
We used BeepBox, JummBus, and derivatives for our music creation. They allow us to make music fast.
Challenges we ran into
Collaboration. Since we used TurboWarp, we couldn't all work together on this project. Due to our extremely good teamwork and our efficient breakdown of tasks we were able to make this game. Programming. Due to the use of a simpler language and environment, we needed to be innovative to fit in our constraints and use limited functionality. Skill level. We came together last week and said we would do this but didn't consider skill level, etc. We learnt our roles and what we are best at during our process which led to slowdown of efficient work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our ideas and our teamwork. And of course, the project itself. We are also proud of being able to organize and coordinating and creating separate parts that come together into a cohesive project.
What we learned
We learned valuable aspects of teamwork and Scratch coding alongside a massive load of stress. We also learned time management, communication, and spontaneous critical thinking skills.
What's next for LeBronTale
A sequel...? Maybe an extension of the project is imminent.
