Inspiration
As students ourselves we noticed a new way of connecting people with common interests in education was needed. And so we sought out to do create this platform!
What it does
People who want to learn or teach certain subjects are free to create new events. Interest is gauged and if enough interest is received the event is scheduled by an organizer who has a speciality in that area.
How we built it
Jenny designed mockups of the website while Aman and Brian worked on the backend and frontend. Andrew assisted with the frontend and backend.
Challenges we ran into
It was difficult designing a pure JS solution to output the content on Firebase as cards, along with using asynchronous design for the first time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Being able to get the cards outputted and formatted correctly!
What we learned
A framework like React/Angular would make the REST requests and outputting a lot simpler since we could have used components.
What's next for learnwithme
This project is incomplete, so we plan to finish features like creating polls for each event, creating user profiles, and creating event pages.
