Inspiration

Studying from lengthy notes and textbooks can be overwhelming, especially when preparing for exams. I wanted to build a single platform that helps students learn more efficiently by using AI to simplify revision and improve understanding.

What it does

LearnMate allows students to upload study materials and instantly generate concise summaries, interactive flashcards, quizzes, and receive assistance from an AI tutor. It brings multiple study tools together into one easy-to-use platform.

How I built it

I built LearnMate as a full-stack web application using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend, Firebase for authentication, database, and storage, and the Gemini AI API to power the AI features. I integrated these technologies to create a seamless learning experience.

Challenges I ran into

One of the biggest challenges was integrating AI with uploaded documents while ensuring a smooth user experience. I also encountered authentication issues, cloud storage integration challenges, and API debugging, all of which required careful troubleshooting and testing.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I'm proud of building a functional AI-powered study platform that combines document management, AI summaries, quizzes, flashcards, and tutoring into a single application. Completing an end-to-end full-stack project independently while learning new technologies along the way was a significant achievement.

What I learned

This project strengthened my understanding of full-stack web development, Firebase services, AI integration, cloud databases, API communication, and responsive UI design. It also improved my debugging, problem-solving, and project management skills.

What's next for LearnMate

I plan to enhance LearnMate by adding personalized study plans, spaced repetition, progress tracking, collaborative study groups, support for more document formats, a mobile application, and smarter AI recommendations.
