Inspiration

One of my compulsory modules, Education & Career Guidance required me to complete a mandatory financial literacy course organised by the Ministry of Education Singapore. I noticed that everyone did not make use of the knowledge taught in the course as they were learning it for the sake of completing the quiz and getting a grade. That's where I thought to myself, what if there was a way we could integrate the learning aspect of financial literacy into our daily lives? As a student, I wanted to create a financial app to help make the application of financial literacy easier for students like me.

What it does

LearnLoop aims to be a platform which allows youths to pick up basic financial literacy concepts and apply them to their daily lives. There are features such as a personal financial dashboard which gives the user an overview of their finances, an expense tracker, and budgeting models, a digital library full of discounts and promotions for students to reduce their expenses and Looprary, an integrated online learning course library for students to watch other personal finance content such as investments, blockchain, cryptocurrency and more.

How we built it

We build it using Java on android studio with the use of Google firebase for the storing of data and training of the data model too. Machine Learning is used to create budgeting models for students. Depending on the type and variation of the user's expenditure, LearnLoop will build budgeting templates catered to the needs of the user to provide them with a more personalized experience.
