Inspiration
Getting an answer isn't the same as understanding it. One confusing step can interrupt a study session, and useful explanations are easy to lose in a busy class chat.
I wanted Learnivelle to connect a place to focus with a place to ask questions, explain ideas and keep useful notes.
What it does
Learnivelle combines a Pomodoro study room, a peer-help board and shared study resources.
Students start with a small goal and a focus session. When they get stuck, they can post a question, describe what they've tried and attach documents or images. Other students can explain their reasoning and share worked examples. The question author can reflect on what they understood and mark the question resolved.
Students can also share notes, tips and short videos with readable text explanations. Notes can include practice questions with revealable answers. Each account has one editable usefulness rating per post.
The focus room includes adjustable sessions, breaks, ambient sound, study history and 36 motivational passages with source links.
How it was built
The interface uses HTML, CSS and vanilla JavaScript. A Vinext application runs on Cloudflare Workers, with D1 for shared records and R2 for uploaded files.
The API checks ownership, attachment permissions and voting rules. Personal goals, timer settings and saved notes stay in browser storage.
Challenges
The early prototype stored everything on one device. Moving shared content to the server meant separating personal settings from information other students needed to see.
The timer also needed to stay accurate across navigation and reloads. It uses a saved deadline rather than relying only on interval ticks.
Demo mode required a separate sandbox. It fills the normal pages with sample questions, replies, ratings and study history, while keeping demo actions away from live records.
Testing and limitations
Automated tests cover questions, attachments, permissions, ratings, timer behaviour and demo isolation.
Demo activity is fictional and does not represent real-user adoption. Peer explanations are not expert-verified, ratings do not prove accuracy, and reports are saved for later review.
Contributions and credits
I chose the problem and guided the decisions about features, design and the student experience. ChatGPT substantially assisted coding, debugging, automated tests and submission writing. The demo video uses my screen recording with added highlights, captions and synthetic English narration.
The prototype was developed on October 24–26, 2026, originally as YanYana before being renamed Learnivelle. Dependencies are listed in package.json. Motivational passages are English paraphrases of public-domain works with source links.
What's next
Test the learning flow with students and teachers, then use their feedback to improve explanations, practice prompts and moderation.
