Use Case Title: Learning New Language with ChatGPT

Description:

It has been my life goal to learn at least several foreign languages for traveling and better job opportunities such as translation, tourism, business exchange, etc. With the help of AI such as ChatGPT, people who want to speak new languages like me have been inspired to start learning.

Set up a learning plan for studying new language

Type into ChatGPT: “I am a new beginner in German. I would like to learn German one hour per day for 6 months. Can you please create an easy to follow learning plan to help me study German?”

Purpose:

  • Help you organize, focus and know what to learn during the time frame of one hour per day for 6 months
  • If you follow the plan strictly you will be able to improve your language skills

Tips and Tricks:

  • You should state what you want to learn
  • You should specify the time frame you want to learn the language so ChatGPT can provide an effective learning plan for you.
  • You should let ChatGPT know the level you are in for learning

Creating FlashCard for learning new words

Type into ChatGPT: “Can you please provide 500 common German words with translation into English and pronunciation organized in a table ?”

Purpose:

  • The fastest way to learn new language is to learn common words by heart
  • By asking ChatGPT some common words to learn you can copy those words into note cards and paste them on the items around the house to learn faster

Tips and Tricks:

  • Start it easily by learning 5 words per day
  • You can specify time frame or the number of common keywords you want to learn in specified timeframe
  • Don’t rush when studying keywords
  • Don’t be impatient and revive words that you learnt on previous days before learning new ones.

  • Sometimes wrong info that is cited from the Internet can harm students in the wrong way such as ChatGPT may teach common swear words to students as common phrases
  • ChatGPT may provide wrong information about culture or customs which may harm people who learn foreign languages. For example: In Germany, Sunday is a quite day for people to rest and ChatGPT may not know what and tell the students that on Sunday you can play, party like the US and then police come to the student’s house because of the noise.
  • ChatGPT may allow people to cheat by writing paper or doing work for them
  • People become dependent on ChatGPT and cannot do things by themselves
