Inspiration

Our inspiration came from when we where in lockdown and had to attend schools online. During this time we both noticed that even the most extravagant students did not respond to the teacher. So we thought "why not make something to bring the students together?"

What it does

Learning Lounge allows our classmates and teachers to all be reunited inside of a fun, interactive, useful and above all else sociable environment.

How we built it

My teammate and friend Nick built most of the art for the game and I programmed the learning lounge in HTML, CSS and JS. We made a website because we wanted it to be easily accessible by all.

Challenges we ran into

A big challenge was the fact that we were both new, and used different languages, so it was hard for us to incorporate both of our skills. Another was that we didn't have the experience and didn't know how to deal with specific bugs and problem

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the entire website, but most notably: the chalkboard, the screen sharing function as well as the artwork for the Relax Room (the one with a pizza).

What we learned

We have both improved, mainly on new ways to program in Javascript, as well as fully testing our abilities. We also made new strategies to work on pixel art for the different rooms by experimenting with different themes.

What's next for Learning lounge

Learning Lounge is so far just a prototype, a taste of a bigger project. We will continue Learning Lounge, which when completed, will include, but won't be limited to: Networking (multiplayer, accounts for students and teachers, etc.)
