Last year while I was studying abroad I helped create a book for an indigenous afro-Nicaraguan community. Since then I have created different types of learning materials for that community. When you ask Alexa to repeat a color, body part, number, weekday or month in English it will give you the answer in Garifuna with an audio recording. I built this small skill using the amazon developers console. The biggest challenge for me was having to learn how the code worked since this was my first time coding something that was not HTML or CSS. I want to keep using my research to be able to create more materials and having them accessible to this community in Nicaragua to use.
