Inspiration
Before the pandemic, students used to give away their old books to their juniors and they studied together, had fun together, but things are worse now. As our education system is switched to online mode, the idea is to provide a mobile application through which students can do these things online.
What it does
Using this application students can post the school stuff which is not of their use and if someone finds it useful then he/she can contact the owner. Also, there's a public chat platform where students can chat, solve doubts, and share notes.
How we built it
We built a native android application using Java. We used Laravel for developing APIs and the backend is MySQL database as well as Firebase Realtime Database(for live chat).
Challenges we ran into
We were not able to develop live chat using MySQL and Laravel. But as time didn't allow us to dig more into that, we chose firebase.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
There was a need for an OLX for book exchange. And we developed it during this hackathon. It was a great experience.
What we learned
During this hackathon, we learned to make a live chat system and it was really fun doing it.
What's next for LearnCollective
We can also allow the users to make separate groups for group study along with our public chat system.
