Inspiration

Our inspiration for our project came from Laura, one of our team members. As a server, she always liked to talk to the people she met. She served a couple who was deaf and because she did not know much ASL, she felt like she didn't get a chance to know them during their visit. Our project hopes to narrow the language barrier by providing a way for non-ASL speakers to easily learn sign language.

What it does

The website allows users to learn the basics of sign language through images and interactive games. Users can review letters and basic words before testing their knowledge through an matching game and a quiz.

How we built it

We built the website with HTML formatting and JavaScript. The interactive aspects were all built with JavaScript.

Challenges we ran into

Before putting this project together, none of us had much prior experience involving website development. It was hard trying to fix bugs that we were not familiar with as well as trying to start a project we had no previous guidance for.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have built a (somewhat) operating website with it's own domain!

What we learned

Through this website, we have learned how to program interactive aspects into a HTML file. We have also learned how to build a basic functioning website!

What's next for Learn It ASL

Next, Learn It ASL will need to be updated to improve the overall website design and functionality.
