Inspiration

As students, we know the pain of having to learn definitions by heart. We tackle this to make studying as enjoyable and fun as possible.

What it does

Our vision is to be able to scan .pdf-files the user can import for keywords, make the user define definitions for the keywords and store them in a database. He will then be asked for the definitions in a gamefied environment by being able to complete levels, track his/her own progress and success and ultimately share his/her progress with friends to compete against each other.

How we built it

The basic structure of the web app is finished although the .pdf-file feature and the storing of keywords is not done yet. It is based on a django project.

Challenges we ran into

Working together requires more setup time and we spent a lot of time on connecting our machine to the same repository, fixing error on setup and setting up a PostGreSQL.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We worked well in a team and learned a lot during the process!

What we learned

How to build a web app, work on it with multiple people and simply extended our coding skills.

What's next for Learn by heart in a heartbeat

We're planning on implementing all the functions that are still missing. There are a lot of ideas in the back of our heads such as sharing databases between users or making this availible to professors to let them see what questions their students find difficult.
