Inspiration
Gabby Beckford's brief resonated with me immediately. She described ambitious women who want big lives but get stuck between inspiration and action, always waiting for permission or to feel ready. I knew this feeling. The gap between "someday" and "today" is about not knowing what the first small step looks like.
What it does
Leap turns goals into daily micro-actions. You add a goal such as a trip you want to take, a career move, a money target, something that scares you a little, or any other that you have, and Leap gives you one small, personalized action you can do in 5 minutes. Complete it, build a streak, earn badges, and watch "someday" become "today."
The app intentionally limits you to 2 tasks per day because the purpose isn't to squeeze more out of you, but to build sustainable momentum without burnout.
How I built it
I used the vibecodeapp with Expo/React Native to build the mobile app (IOS only for now), InstantDB for the database, OpenAI's GPT-4o to generate personalized daily actions, and RevenueCat to power the subscription system. The entire MVP was built in 4 weeks.
Challenges I faced
Getting the AI-generated tasks to feel personal and actionable, not generic, took iteration. I also had to think carefully about the paywall placement as I wanted the core loop to be free, so users experience value before being asked to pay. Midway through development, I hit a critical bug that forced me to rebuild significant parts of the app from scratch. It was a tough moment, but it pushed me to understand the codebase more deeply and build it back stronger.
What I learned
Constraints create focus. Limiting users to 2 tasks per day felt counterintuitive at first, but it's the heart of the app's philosophy: showing up consistently matters more than doing everything at once.
What's next for Leap
Notifications to remind users to take their daily action, deeper progress analytics, and a social layer where users can encourage each other, share their goals, and support one another's journeys. The vision is to turn Leap from a personal tool into a community where showing up for your goals means showing up for each other too.
