🌟 Project Story: LeanOn AI 💡 Inspiration Many people suffer from "Financial Trauma" without realizing it. Growing up, money was a sensitive topic in my household. I inherited "Money Scripts" where having money felt wrong or selfish. This led to a cycle of "Financial Sabotage" in my adulthood, where I unconsciously spent money to feel "safe" again. As an AI Master's student, I wanted to turn this struggle into a solution to help others rewrite their mental programming.
🔍 What it does LeanOn AI is a Financial Trauma Analyst agent. Unlike standard budgeting apps, it uses a 5-phase psychological journey to:
Identify current financial stress.
Link current habits to childhood "Money Roots".
Collect current financial data to see the "Gap".
Generate a personalized Expert Financial Blueprint with a specific micro-action for healing.
🛠️ How we built it Core: Powered by Google Gemini 1.5 Flash for deep reasoning and empathetic conversation.
Frontend: Built with Streamlit, featuring custom CSS for professional branding.
Database: Integrated SQLite to provide the AI with long-term memory of the user's progress.
🚧 Challenges we ran into Merging AI, Psychology, and Finance was a major challenge. I had to engineer strict "System Instructions" to ensure the AI follows a logical 5-phase flow without lecturing the user, while keeping the interface clean and supportive even when the API is "warming up".
🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of I am proud of creating an AI that feels human and empathetic. Seeing the agent successfully link a user's spending habit to a specific childhood memory and provide a clear action plan is a huge milestone in combining technology with mental health.
📚 What we learned I learned the power of "Prompt Engineering" in creating structured psychological agents. I also realized that the best AI projects are those that solve real, personal human problems.
🚀 What's next for LeanOn AI This is just a "seed" in growth. Next, I plan to:
Add Voice Interaction for a more therapeutic experience.
Integrate Visual Progress Tracking to show users how their "Money Script" is changing over time.
Build a community of "Financial Healers" supported by AI insights.
