Inspiration

In today's rapidly evolving digital world, sensitive information is constantly shared across source code, configuration files, application logs, documents and other digital resources. A single accidentally exposed API key, password, authentication token or piece of personal information can create serious security and privacy risks.

We realized that traditional security scanners primarily detect suspicious patterns and generate alerts, leaving developers to manually investigate, understand and resolve the underlying issues.

We wanted to go beyond simply detecting leaks. We envisioned an intelligent system that could independently investigate security exposures, understand their context, determine their severity and coordinate their remediation.

This inspired us to create LEAKLENS AI — an autonomous, multi-agent security intelligence and remediation platform.

What it does

LEAKLENS AI transforms sensitive-data detection into an intelligent, end-to-end security workflow.

The platform is designed to:

Detect: Identify exposed API keys, passwords, authentication tokens, database credentials and personally identifiable information (PII).

Investigate: Analyze surrounding context to understand the nature and potential impact of each exposure.

Prioritize: Generate explainable risk scores and classify findings according to their severity.

Remediate: Generate intelligent recommendations and create sanitized versions of affected files.

Verify: Rescan sanitized outputs to confirm whether identified exposures have been successfully removed.

Report: Generate security reports containing findings, risk assessments and remediation results.

What makes LEAKLENS AI different is its collaborative multi-agent architecture, where specialized AI agents coordinate the entire process instead of simply displaying detection alerts.

How we built it

We designed LEAKLENS AI using a combination of artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing and automated security analysis.

Our architecture consists of specialized agents:

Intake Agent: Processes uploaded files and extracts relevant information.

Detection Agent: Identifies potentially exposed secrets and sensitive information using hybrid detection techniques.

Context Agent: Investigates the surrounding content and distinguishes meaningful exposures from harmless matches.

Risk Assessment Agent: Evaluates findings and generates explainable security risk scores.

Remediation Agent: Develops appropriate redaction strategies and prepares sanitized outputs.

Verification Agent: Rescans the results and validates the remediation process.

We use a Python-based backend for file processing, detection and agent orchestration, alongside a React-based frontend for an interactive security dashboard.

Our planned technology ecosystem includes Python, React, FastAPI, JavaScript, TypeScript, LangGraph, Scikit-learn, NLP techniques and security-focused detection utilities.

The system follows a controlled workflow in which sensitive information is protected, remediation is subject to appropriate approval, and original files remain untouched.

Challenges we ran into

One of the most challenging aspects of this project was designing a system that could distinguish genuinely sensitive information from ordinary text.

Some patterns resemble credentials without actually being secrets, making false-positive reduction an important challenge.

Other key engineering challenges included:

Identifying different types of sensitive information across multiple file formats.

Understanding contextual risks rather than relying exclusively on pattern matching.

Coordinating multiple AI agents through a structured workflow.

Preventing sensitive information from being unnecessarily exposed to external AI services.

Performing accurate redaction without damaging the original file structure.

Verifying that remediation was successful rather than simply assuming that an operation worked.

We approached these challenges through hybrid detection, structured agent communication, controlled processing and post-remediation verification.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of developing the concept of an intelligent security platform that goes beyond conventional detection and brings investigation, risk assessment and remediation into one coordinated workflow.

Our key accomplishments and project goals include:

Designing a collaborative multi-agent security architecture.

Combining rule-based detection with intelligent contextual analysis.

Introducing explainable security risk assessment.

Developing an autonomous remediation workflow with human approval.

Incorporating post-remediation verification.

Prioritizing privacy-preserving file processing and responsible AI usage.

Most importantly, we transformed the idea of a traditional security scanner into a broader autonomous security intelligence system.

What we learned

Working on LEAKLENS AI helped us understand that building intelligent systems involves much more than integrating an AI model or connecting an API.

We explored how multiple specialized agents can collaborate, how structured workflows improve reliability, and how machine learning can complement traditional rule-based detection.

We also recognized the importance of privacy, explainability, human oversight and verification when developing AI systems that interact with sensitive information.

One of our biggest takeaways was that an intelligent system should not simply generate recommendations; it should be able to validate its actions and provide evidence that the intended outcome was achieved.

What's next for LEAKLENS AI

We envision evolving LEAKLENS AI into a comprehensive autonomous data-security intelligence platform.

Our future roadmap includes:

GitHub repository and CI/CD pipeline integration.

Real-time sensitive-data exposure monitoring.

Advanced contextual detection using machine learning and NLP.

Screenshot and image-based sensitive-information detection using OCR.

Detection of sensitive information in additional document formats.

Intelligent remediation suggestions for source code and configuration files.

Advanced audit trails and security compliance reporting.

Enterprise integrations and team-based security monitoring.

Continuous improvement of detection quality through validated feedback.

Our Vision: To move beyond traditional security scanning and create an intelligent autonomous security ecosystem that can detect, understand, investigate and resolve sensitive-data exposure before it becomes a serious security incident.
