Inspiration Each year, thousands of Nigerian students enter tertiary institutions academically unprepared, facing outdated resources and no personalized support. In Nigeria, over 75% of students scored below 200 in UTME 2025, with dropout rates as high as 20% in the first year. Meanwhile, students spend 4+ hours/day on smartphones, mostly on social media. LeAi was born to flip this distraction into engagement — using AI to provide real-time, adaptive, curriculum-aligned learning to help students succeed from day one. What it does LeAi is an AI-powered academic rescue platform that delivers short, personalized learning "sprints" via mobile devices. It supports students in tough foundational courses, automates quizzes and analytics for faculty, and enables early academic intervention. It integrates with existing university systems, tracks student engagement, and aligns with national education priorities, aiming to reduce failure by 45%, and save thousands of at-risk learners. How we built it We trained LeAi using existing course materials, syllabi, and institutional exam data. Our team are building 300+ adaptive micro-learning sprints for STEM and social science courses and integrating the platform with Institution learning management system (LMS). Faculty and students will be trained through orientation modules and workshops. Challenges we ran into Data Gaps: Aligning curriculum data and syllabus structures across departments was complex.

Content Volume: Producing 300+ high-quality learning sprints in five months requires efficient workflow and part-time educator support.

Behavioral Change: Convincing students to shift screen time from social media to academic learning required gamification and sustained engagement strategies.

Accomplishments that we're proud of Gain 3000+ users in 3 days, with over 10000+ in user sessions recorded, and presently at 4000+ users. Developing 300+ AI-driven learning sprints covering 100% of high-failure courses.

Achieved 80% reduction in lecturer quiz-preparation time.

Created real-time dashboards to flag struggling students, supporting early interventions.

Positioned LeAi as a pioneer of AI-driven learning in Nigeria.

What we learned Students are willing to engage academically via mobile if content is short, gamified, and personalized.

Faculty adoption increases when tools reduce their workload and improve student outcomes.

Institutional alignment with national policies like SDG 4 and TETFund’s digital transformation agenda accelerates adoption and sustainability.

What’s next for LeAi Expand to other Nigerian universities through institutional partnerships.

Scale content to 500+ sprints across more disciplines.

Develop AI-powered career and skills readiness modules.

Launch a nationwide dashboard for real-time academic performance insights.

Publish impact data to contribute to EdTech research and policymaking.
