Inspiration
This project was inspired by the modern addiction to video games with its name being a reference to one.
What it does
“League Of Homework” is a unique task manager designed as a gamified checklist. Its primary function is to keep users on track with their studies, completely free of charge. The application employs an experience and ranking system to motivate users to complete their study goals, or “quests”. By doing so, users earn experience points, developing a sense of achievement as they reach their academic objectives and are awarded points or titles in addition.
How we built it
We built this project solely using Java hosting it on Replit using txt files to store data so it is simple to use but also wouldn't reset on each execution of the program.
Challenges we ran into
As none of us had prior experience with data storage and interfaces, we faced some challenges in these areas. This required us to improvise, which may have impacted the overall quality of the project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite the challenges, we’re proud of conceptualizing a compelling idea and implementing it to the best of our abilities.
What we learned
This project provided us with valuable experience in setting up an interface within the project. We also learned how to use many new libraries in Java to accomplish such goals.
What's next for League Of Homework
In the future, we plan to enhance our system by allowing machines or other users to determine the value of each task. We’re also considering a penalty system for users who slack off on their study goals. To generate budget for prizes, we could incorporate advertisements and offer prizes to users for achieving their goals and reaching certain ranks. This would add an extra layer of motivation and make the learning process more engaging and rewarding.
