Inspiration
We were inspired from a project one of us did last summer with girls who code which was a chatbot that informed people about cybersecurity, so we implemented this idea for the rainforest conservation topic. Then the game and quiz were inspired from applications my team members enjoy.
What it does
The notion website, Leafy & Beyond, includes 4 main aspects. One being a chatbot called Leafy, which aims to inform users about the current environmental crisis and the issue of deforestation. As you scroll through our website, users will be able to play a built in game that is interactive and aims to increase interest in deforestation. Furthermore, there's a quiz over the information presented in the chatbot and volunteering opportunities available. Lastly, there's donation links for environmental causes.
How we built it
We used replit and python to build the chatbot, scratch to make the tree game, and code.org to make the quiz. We embedded all of these aspects into Notion and we were able to create a website.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into multiple challenges throughout the process. We had many bugs in our chatBot python code and had to trouble shoot those. We also had issues finding a platform to import our chatBot because replit can only be imported into certain platforms.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of completing the project and having a finalized product. We went out of our comfort zones to create the individual aspects of the website and it was certainly a learning experience. I am extremely proud of the fact that we were able to bring everything together and create a project.
What we learned
We learned how to work with a team and how to bring forth everyone's strengths to create a good project. We learned about many new platforms to create websites, quizzes, and games.
What's next for Leafy & Beyond
The next thing would be to fix the bugs in the chatBot and create a more appealing look for our website. We wish there could have been better platforms to embed our chatBot.
