Inspiration
Many local businesses still rely on Google Maps listings, phone calls, and manual follow-ups instead of having strong websites, booking flows, or automation. LeadRelay AI was inspired by agencies and automation consultants who spend hours manually finding and qualifying local business leads before they can even start selling.
What it does
LeadRelay AI helps agencies discover local businesses with weak or missing websites, score their revenue opportunity, analyze business gaps, generate personalized outreach campaigns, and save opportunities into a campaign pipeline.
How we built it
The app was built with a v0-generated Next.js interface and deployed through the Vercel stack. The backend uses Next.js API routes, Prisma ORM, and AWS Aurora PostgreSQL as the system of record for opportunities, search runs, AI analyses, and campaigns. The Aurora connection supports IAM database authentication, avoiding a static database password. Google Places and OpenAI are optional providers; when they are unavailable, LeadRelay AI uses a reliable local-market dataset and generated AI output so the product workflow remains complete.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was balancing a polished business-user experience with the technical requirements of the hackathon. We also had to make the app resilient when optional APIs such as Google Places or OpenAI are unavailable. Another challenge was preparing Aurora PostgreSQL connectivity, including IAM-aware database access and Prisma integration.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that LeadRelay AI feels like a real B2B product rather than a simple demo. It connects lead discovery, scoring, AI analysis, outreach generation, and persistent AWS-backed storage into one workflow that agencies could realistically use to find their next clients.
What we learned
We learned how to combine Vercel, v0-style UI development, Next.js API routes, Prisma, and AWS Aurora PostgreSQL into a practical product workflow. We also learned that hackathon apps are stronger when they solve a clear business problem instead of only showcasing technology.
What's next for LeadRelay AI
Next, LeadRelay AI will add CRM exports, website quality checks, Lighthouse-based scoring, automated outreach sequences, team accounts, S3 reports, SQS background enrichment jobs, RDS Proxy, CloudWatch observability, and integrations with tools such as HubSpot, Airtable, and Google Sheets.
