Inspiration
We were inspired to built this app due to similar experinces and feelings we had towards interviews. As college students who are close to graduating, it can be quite nerve-wrecking to think about interview preparation, and it can be even more worry-some if you don't know what to expect, with only one shot at it.
What it does
LeadQuest is a gamified app built using AI generation to convert your speech to text, as your response is checked and graded based on AI generated responses, using jobs criteria. It is meant to allow you to have many tries at perfecting your interviewing skills, as it grades you along the way! It's meant to stimulate the actual interview environment very closely for the best preparation possible. Keep attempting and beating your own high score!
How we built it
It was built using HTML/CSS and React, using coheres api to generate ai text.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into some challenges which were hard to deal with but allowed us to modify our design and planning to give better results. The first challenge we faced was using cohere's API for text-to-speech generation, and needed to figure out how to initiate it onto our web app created in react to be able to start taking the user's input.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're really happy to be able to figure out how to make the api work in our favor and generate what we wanted from it. We used cohere's api to generate questions to be asked and were able to convert the user's response to be evaluated through ai.
What we learned
We learned quite a lot about some new features of react and mostly how to work with apis, which was something new and a big challenge we were facing. Creating a game for something that is considered so formal was an interesting concept that we came up with and there was a lot of brainstorming that went into it to be able to create the best functional app that could be of use to the user
What's next for LeadQuest
The vision for LeadQuest is such that we aim to maximize it further to be able to create personalised roadmaps for a user's specific individual needs. We want to stimulate the interview environment as much as possible and figure out how to use an api that can convert speech -to-text, and grade the user's response that way, and then evaluate the response by either submitting a text report or convert text-to-speech for the user. We;d also want to use other apis to collect jobs data from multiple industries for interview preparation. That way more specific roles that open up in each industry can be catered for in our app, allowing diversified interview prep.
