Inspiration
People over 50 are often excluded from employment even though they still have valuable experience and several working years ahead of them. At the same time, their final career decisions can strongly affect their future pension and quality of life.
I created Le Dernier Emploi because existing tools usually separate employment support from retirement planning. This project connects both questions: “Which job is right for me now?” and “What will this decision change for my retirement?”
What it does
Le Dernier Emploi is an AI-powered career and retirement assistant designed primarily for people aged 50 and over, while remaining open to everyone.
The prototype provides a complete journey:
- analyzes a fictional career file and identifies missing or uncertain periods;
- estimates what may happen if the user makes no change;
- lets the user define a desired retirement income;
- creates several career and retirement scenarios;
- measures sustainable job compatibility across skills, working conditions and personal aspirations;
- matches the user with employers seeking experienced professionals;
- includes optional nonprofit and mentoring opportunities;
- produces a personalized action plan.
Companies can also describe their recruitment needs and search for compatible experienced candidates.
How I built it
I am a non-technical creator. I defined the problem, target audience, product strategy, user journey, retirement scenarios, compatibility criteria and visual identity.
I collaborated with Codex and GPT-5.6 throughout the Build Week. Codex helped transform my product decisions into a working bilingual React and TypeScript prototype, implement the interactive journey, connect user choices across screens, calculate fictional scenario results, create the employer experience, test the application and deploy it.
The visual identity, called “Horizon lumineux”, uses light and an open sky to represent a new professional beginning rather than the end of a career.
Challenges
The main challenge was turning a complex subject into a simple end-to-end experience without reducing it to a basic pension calculator or job board.
Another challenge was handling retirement information responsibly. This prototype therefore uses clearly identified fictional data and does not claim to provide an official pension calculation, financial advice or legal advice.
The interface also had to be understandable for French-speaking users in Guadeloupe while remaining accessible to an international English-speaking jury.
What I learned
I learned that a non-technical creator can use Codex not only to generate code, but to test an idea, challenge product decisions and build a complete functional prototype.
What's next
The next version could connect securely to verified career data, official retirement services, employers and employment-support organizations. It could also include human professional validation, secure user accounts and continuously updated recommendations.
