Inspiration

University students often have useful books, technology, clothing, and small-business products, but no trusted campus-first channel to exchange them. UniMarket turns that gap into a circular marketplace built around student verification and local coordination.

What it does

UniMarket is a public, no-login web demo where students can browse campus listings, search and filter by category, review seller information, price, exchange mode, and pickup location, request a safer exchange, and draft a new listing with image attachments.

How we built it

The public experience is available at https://www.lazostech.com/unimarket. The open-source submission repository includes a sanitized Expo/React Native mobile shell with RevenueCat's React Native SDK and native paywall UI. The integration models a verified-seller entitlement while keeping the core marketplace accessible to students. The repository is provided as open-source implementation evidence; we are not claiming App Store or Google Play publication.

Challenges we ran into

We had to keep the public demo easy to try while separating it from private production infrastructure. We also designed a clear handoff between the web marketplace experience and the mobile monetization layer without exposing credentials or unrelated project history.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We shipped a focused marketplace experience with category browsing, featured listings, search, verified seller details, exchange preparation, image-ready listing creation, and a public repository that documents the mobile RevenueCat integration.

What we learned

A trusted campus marketplace needs more than listings: it needs clear context, verified community signals, safe exchange preparation, and a low-friction demo path. We also learned how to isolate a public hackathon submission from a larger production codebase.

What's next for LazosTech UniMarket

We will continue validating the experience with Universidad del Valle students, strengthen the exchange workflow, and iterate on the mobile shell and monetization model based on real feedback.

UniMarket was built by students from Universidad del Valle as part of LazosTech.
