Lázaro — Memories That Remain

Inspiration

Lázaro was inspired by the desire to preserve the voices, stories, gestures, and values of loved ones who have passed away.

Our goal is not to replace them, but to help families remember their legacy through meaningful and respectful technology.

What it does

Lázaro creates personalized digital memorial experiences:

• QR codes that open short memorial videos.
• AI-generated images, animations, and symbolic family scenes.
• Memorial pages with photographs, videos, stories, and voice recordings.
• A conversational AI experience, currently in beta, created from family-authorized material.

How we built it

We built a responsive bilingual prototype using:

• HTML
• CSS
• JavaScript
• QR-code integration
• Embedded video
• Spanish and English support

Challenges we faced

Our greatest challenge was balancing innovation with dignity, privacy, consent, and emotional responsibility.

We learned that AI should support remembrance without pretending to replace the person who is gone.

What's next

We plan to develop:

3. Protected media uploads.
4. AI video and voice integrations.
5. Family consent and approval workflows.
6. A responsible conversational-memory beta.
