Inspiration

Our initial Idea was to make a movie database, but did not want to make a web or mobile app (We both are bad at making those). We also saw a lack of Discord bots that show movie details. So, why not make a Bot that is a Database of Movies.

What it does

The bot shows Current trending movies, helps search movies and discover new movies all in your discord server.

How we built it

We built it using Discord.py a python library by discord for Wrapping API's in Discord. We also used TMDB-API to get data for the bot to use.

Challenges we ran into

We both did not know how to create a Discord bot, so that was challenge#1. We followed a tutorial by freecodecamp.org that helped us understand the basics and the rest was just googling. We did also face some troubles with the API we used, but the documentation helped with it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Participated in our First HACKATHON. It is a first for both of us, but the MLH discord server helped us through it. We created our first Discord bot and learned a new skill. but the most important of all converted our lazy-movie weekend to a productive one.
