Law4U is a website bridging the gap between the public and the law to allow increased access to justice. Research for legal aid can be tough, with many convoluted and often legal jargon containing websites and platforms on the internet. Add on the baggage of a limited budget due to financial troubles, and this search can be downright daunting, or even seemingly impossible. There is a lack of public resources catering to this group of people, which our platform, Law4U, sets out to resolve.

Our platform allows people to sort and filter out different lawyers to fit their legal needs as well as economic power. It presents only key information to aid in the lawyer selection process, in a bite sized manner and in layman terms, enabling users to more easily comprehend the information. This couples with a user friendly interface and easy to navigate directory. Through this, we hope to deliver a simple yet helpful experience for the users. From criminal defence to divorce proceedings, users would receive a helping hand from Law4U on any area of law.

The unique and useful functionalities of Law4U include - A sort and filter function which allows users to effectively navigate to a list of lawyers catering to them; they are able to compare the different lawyers available, handpick a few by 'adding them to cart', before making their final selection; Users can ask for quotes from the lawyers directly from the platform by submitting a form; there is also a chat function which offers active engagement and aid from Law4U staff & volunteer lawyers. This is different from existing solutions which only provide for the very basic sorting and filtering function, and with very limited filter conditions.

The information on lawyers and law firms in Singapore will be scraped from Singapore Legal Advice’s website; whereas quotes from the lawyers/law firms shall be collected manually, subject to their disclosure (standard rate, range of prices or an estimate).
