Inspiration
Statistics is a vast domain with numerous concepts involving numbers. Law of Large is one of the kinds which involves Statistical concepts. Pretty much every day, one experience this concept in Real Life.
What it does
This application is an informative material for getting to know the concept of the Law of Large Numbers. In this project, users can learn about the concept by actually performing it. First, the user is supposed to add random numerical data. Following this, user needs to add a number of samples to be used in the experiment. Based on the input, a plot will be displayed for the distribution of all the sample means. The user is asked again to input the number of samples again, significantly more than the previous step. One can observe that the distribution of Sample means with a lesser number of samples is Normally distributed than the DIstribution with a larger number of samples taken into the experiment. There is a separate section for users to add a csv file and try experimenting with the concept on one of the numerical columns from the data.
How I built it
I built this using Python with Streamlit Library for ready to use beautiful UI. I also used the Cyberpunk themed stylesheet to match the background of the browser with the plots, making it more beautiful and interactive.
Challenges I ran into
I had to add several blocks of try-except to avoid wrong input of data since this is a statistical concept, it requires numerical data only. Also, I had to set the limits for X-axis and Y-axis on the plots so as to keep the Density Plot and Mean Line, relative, to each other.
What I learned
This led me to dive deeper into the concept. Statistics involve concepts that may be confusing at times, but learning something by doing is the best way to do it.
What's next for Law of Large Numbers
Can add different types of plots or beautify the existing ones. Can also deploy the app if, based on a poll, people find it useful.
