We understand that students often face challenges in making new connections and finding time to meet others amid their busy schedules. Our proposed solution enables students to book dedicated times to meet, collaborate, and study with new or familiar peers from a range of disciplines, at times that best suit their availability.

This initiative involves the integration of a program within the Allocate+ timetable system, allowing students registered with the newly established society, SEM (Student Engagement Monash), to enrol in collaborative sessions that will appear as a unit on their dashboard. Students will receive email notifications outlining their group meeting details, while the SEM committee will receive Monash room booking confirmations, along with relevant group information and catering recommendations.

During the development process, we encountered challenges in identifying appropriate platforms to effectively demonstrate the project and in researching the formal requirements to establish a Monash society. Nevertheless, these challenges provided valuable insights into incorporating JavaScript, Python, and Next.JS models with business strategies, and highlighted the considerations necessary for the sustainable implementation of a joint program and society.

We are proud of both the demonstration we achieved, and the detailed plan developed for the future of SEM, which addresses not only integration into Monash systems but also long-term sustainability through membership funding, society allocations, and catering incentives to foster continued participation.
