Inspiration
Indie makers and solo developers pour months of work into shipping real software, only to get buried within 24 hours on traditional launch platforms dominated by VC-funded teams and upvote cartels. LaunchOnIt was created to give builders a calmer, fairer alternative: a full 7-day front-page launch window where genuine products receive sustainable discovery, real feedback, and lasting SEO visibility.
What it does
LaunchOnIt is a weekly product launch platform and permanent startup directory:
- 7-Day Launch Cohorts: Each week features up to 20 selected products prominently on the front page for seven full days rather than a fleeting 24-hour race.
- Verified Community Upvotes: Genuine founder feedback and discovery without noisy artificial gamification.
- Permanent Crawlable Profiles: Server-rendered directory listings with structured JSON-LD data designed for high search engine and AI-discovery authority.
- Organic Syndication: Automated, high-authority directory submission management powered by safe human-in-the-loop agents.
How I built it
- Frontend & App Core: Next.js 15 (App Router) with React Server Components for maximum SEO indexability and sub-second page delivery.
- Backend & Database: PostgreSQL modeled with Prisma ORM, providing structured campaign tracking and directory analytics.
- Type-Safe API: tRPC v11 ensuring end-to-end type safety between client components and data services.
- Design System: Tailored Tailwind CSS v4 styling with dark mode aesthetics and dynamic brushed metallic Open Graph social cards.
- Automation Pipeline: Python & Playwright engine with strict safety rules, persistent browser profiles, and human-in-the-loop checkpoints.
Challenges I ran into
- Designing a balanced weekly ranking model that preserves discovery momentum across all seven days while preventing vote manipulation.
- Architecting server-side rendering for indexable directory listings alongside low-latency interactive voting and discussions.
- Implementing safe automation workflows that strictly respect site policies, rate limits, and authentication boundaries.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
- Built a sustainable launch alternative that eliminates the burnout of 24-hour launch leaderboards.
- Achieved exceptional Core Web Vitals with crawlable semantic markup across all product and category directory routes.
- Created an end-to-end verified pipeline helping indie founders get legitimate backlink authority and organic early adopters.
What I learned
- Product discovery is a marathon, not a single-day sprint. Founders need lasting, indexable visibility rather than a 15-minute traffic spike.
- A clean, uncluttered user experience and verified authenticity build far more long-term community trust than gamified leaderboard mechanics.
What's next for LaunchOnIt
LaunchOnIt helps indie makers launch working software without being buried in a one-day feed. Each weekly launch gives up to 20 products seven days on the front page to collect community upvotes, feedback, and discovery. Products remain in the directory after launch, with server-rendered profiles and structured data designed for search visibility. Free and paid launch options let founders choose between a standard queue or a scheduled, priority launch.
