Inspiration
During my diploma, a friend lost his puppy but luckily found it several days later just two streets away. Similarly, another friend lost his bike and discovered it abandoned in a remote area after several days. These experiences made me realize how difficult it can be to recover lost items, inspiring me to create a solution.
What It Does
I developed a platform where users can post about lost items, and others who have any information can contact them directly.
How I Built It
The platform was built using the MERN stack. It integrates the Google Maps API for location tracking, Firebase for authentication, and Socket.io for real-time chat functionality.
Challenges I Faced
The biggest challenge was the lack of prior knowledge and experience. It took time to learn new technologies, but I managed to overcome it through continuous learning and practice.
Accomplishments I'm Proud Of
One of the key features is that when a lost item is registered, users in the surrounding area receive a notification, increasing the chances of recovery.
What I Learned
Throughout this project, I gained hands-on experience with the MERN stack and Socket.io.
What's Next for LastHope
Future plans include integrating AI for image recognition to enhance search capabilities and adding a side panel to assist in finding missing persons, criminals, and more.
