Eerie environment, ASCII shader

What it does

It is a very short story game/experience. I use an ASCII shader to create a creepy and eerie environment, and use storytelling through an interactive dialogue experience.

How we built it

I used Godot for my engine and GdScript for the coding language, the shader was adapted from existing models and tuned for the purposes of my game.

Challenges we ran into

Coming up with the idea for the story after I'd set up the environment. 3D modeling is hard, and Godot has issues with Signals which I had some trouble with.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This is my first experience with making a game in 3D ever, and so I'm very happy with how the game looks and turned out, and my dedication throughout the entire 24 hours to create this.

What we learned

I learned how to make games in 3D with Godot which required a lot of new things to learn such as mesh types and new node types. I learned a lot of skills in blender, how to make Godot shaders, and some complicated image vector math.

What's next for Last Trip Home

I might polish on the environment to make it play better. I want to expand on the lore more when I have the time. The interactions feel rushed and the guide just leaves you at some point when it shouldnt idk why. I might repurpose the environment for a different type of game at some point.
