Inspiration
We live in a world where everyone knows when you were last online, but no one really knows how you feel. We’re always “available,” but emotionally — we’re invisible. Last Seen: Soul Edition was born from that loneliness. It’s a place where your emotional state becomes your status — not to gain attention, but to be gently witnessed. Sometimes, just being seen is healing.
What it does
Last Seen: Soul Edition is a voice-powered emotional check-in space. Users type or speak how they truly feel — and the app transforms it into a poetic “last seen” status like:
Last seen holding it together at 3:07 AM
Last seen missing someone who forgot them
Last seen dreaming of an easier life
These statuses glow on-screen and evolve over time. Other users can leave anonymous “whispers” — soft, supportive messages that float in like falling stars. There are no likes. No followers. No feed. Just emotion, presence, and peace.
How we built it
Frontend: React + TailwindCSS for a mystical, minimal UI
Backend: Bolt.dev for storing emotional entries, generating last-seen lines, and managing whispers
Voice-to-text: Whisper API integration for spoken feelings
Poetic Engine: AI model transforms user mood input into expressive emotional timestamps
Animations: Framer Motion & Lottie for slow fades, flickers, and ambient glow
Design: Dreamy twilight palette, blurred glass, dust particles, and no navigation — just experience
Challenges we ran into
Generating poetic yet accurate emotional phrases from raw text or speech
Making voice input feel natural and safe
Designing a UI that balances depth, softness, and elegance without overwhelming users
Creating a system of “whispers” that feels comforting but never intrusive
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Created an emotional status engine that speaks for people when they can’t
Designed an ambient space that users called “soft, sacred, and unforgettable”
Built a fully functioning voice-powered prototype in one prompt (yes — really.)
Saw our first users say: “This made me cry in the best way.”
What we learned
People are starving for digital spaces that don’t ask for performance — just presence
Minimal UI, when combined with emotion and meaning, can be more powerful than features
You don’t always need a million tools — you need one good idea, executed with feeling
Voice + vulnerability is a powerful duo when designed gently
What’s next for Last Seen: Soul Edition
