Inspiration
I wanted to make an RPG game focused on mental health awareness. The goal is simple: to help players understand mental health better, teach them to spot when someone is struggling, and show them the best ways to help. It's all about spreading kindness, understanding, and support through the power of gaming.
What it does
Three-Day Cycle: The game spans over a virtual three-day period, with each day allowing the player to engage in two significant actions. Actions can range from having conversations, participating in activities, or making decisions that affect the storyline and relationships with the friends.
Choice-Driven Narrative: Players are presented with various scenarios and must choose from multiple options in responding to or interacting with their friends. These choices will influence the friends' mental states and the game's outcome.
Detective Elements: Players must pay attention to subtle clues in their friends' behavior, conversations, and environments that may indicate their mental health status. This includes changes in mood, withdrawal from social activities, expressions of hopelessness, etc.
How we built it
I use PartyRock platform to create the different prompts needed to connect each widget.
Challenges we ran into
Tinkering the prompt to only give options and to be more detailed with the scenery and events.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This is an educational and thought-provoking RPG game that even during testing we are surprised with the result that it gave. As the creator, it also taught me a lot of things about mental health while creating it.
