Inspiration
I wanted to get fake arc'teryx postour boots from taobao and I'm broke so I wanted to find the best replica for the cheapest price.
What it does
larp.ai is a browser extension that works on temu, amazon, taobao, and tmall (more to come). It takes a listing's reviews, pictures, price, seller information and more to output a concise analysis of how legit the product is.
the user story is:
- reads the listing the user is already viewing (title, price, seller photos, visible reviews and buyer photos).
- finds the comparable listings on the public web (via Apify).
- compares images: seller photos vs. buyer photos vs. official product photos.
- checks reviews for suspicious patterns and the price for "too good to be true."
- shows a match score + verdict in the Chrome side panel, with results streaming in live as each check finishes.
we answer the user's question of "does this listing match reality?" (misleading photos, stolen images, fake reviews, bait pricing).
How we built it
oneshot claude opus 5.5 jk
Challenges we ran into
Integrating Apify, thinking about the user experience and simulating it as if we were the user.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
testing and thinking from a product perspective
- originally the ai summary was very long but it took a lot of mental effort to comprehend, so we made it shorter
- making the side page expandable so users can see a full report if they like, but also a quick summary and confidence score at a glance
What we learned
We learned about e-commerce and market research of what people want to see in the industry.
What's next for larp.ai
- supporting more websites and looking into what users care about in the summary
Built With
- apify
- claude
