Inspiration

I've noticed that catchy, user-generated music videos are effective for learning languages. They also tend to go viral on social media. The company I work for - HelloTalk - a global language learning app, often publishes these. However, the concept doesn't relate to our core product. I decided to build a product on my own just for the purpose of learning languages through these videos/songs.

What it does

Watch/listen to videos through a learning path of multiple target languages (v1 is just Korean), synchronized lyrics, bookmark terms, take quizzes based on video content, and more.

How I built it

I built it entirely inside Bolt. It leverages Supabase for the backend and OpenAI for transcription, translation, and some administrative functions. The content came from our talented social media manager/influencer.

What's next for Langbeats

More languages, more content for each language, a native mobile app, and a big marketing push!
