Inspiration
LAnes of Life was inspired by my daily experience driving through Los Angeles traffic — the endless stop-and-go became a mirror for modern life. I started seeing the highway as a living timeline: different speeds, same destination. That realization sparked the idea of turning the boredom of traffic into a surreal musical journey of snowing summer in LA.
What it does
It’s a short music video blending lo-fi jazz, chill electronic beats, and cinematic motion. The song turns everyday traffic into a metaphor for connection and patience — 420 → 405 → 101 → 10 → 5 — our collective ride through life’s gridlock.
How we built it
I wrote the lyrics first, then I produced and polish with ChatGPT. The track was produced with Suno. The visuals were created through a mix of digital compositing, animation, and motion graphics — capturing the dreamlike feeling of being lost in thought while driving.
Challenges we ran into
Keeping full consistency with the main character before the Nano Banana release was tough. I needed more control over her angles, motion, and placement within each scene to make everything feel cohesive. Aligning her visual presence with the rhythm of the song required a lot of fine-tuning.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Turning a simple, relatable experience — being stuck in traffic — into something universal and emotional. It became more than a song; it’s a visual poem about pace, patience, and connection.
What we learned
The process taught me that it’s best to finish the song first — then build the storyboard around it. When the visuals follow the music’s rhythm and lyrics, everything flows more naturally, just like an MTV-era video synced to its beat.
What's next for LAnes of Life
I plan to create an alternate, more electronic version of the track — giving it a new pulse and vibe. I also want to keep expanding the world of LAnes of Life, experimenting with different moods, characters, and tempos that explore how we move through modern life’s rhythm.
