Inspiration
We felt a strong urgency to help where we could during the 2019 pandemic. I am part of a volunteering group organising through WhatsApp and Excel and it became clear that a tool that manages their data and workload would be valuable over the coming months.
What it does
LandVolunteer allows groups to add volunteers and respondents in to workflow pipelines and save information on their individual cards.
It allows the users to track requests for help through to assigned and completed requests.
The platform also identified the nearest volunteer to any request for help.
The map allows a visual element too, allowing groups to see which areas they have resource in and which need more volunteers.
How we built it
We adapted our existing product, LandInsight to create LandVolunteer.
Challenges we ran into
Time - we wanted to put the platform in to production as fast as possible, and completed the project in 36 hours.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Shipping a product in to production so fast that is already being adopted by community groups.
What we learned
That when a whole team has a goal underpinned by a social problem that is driving them - smart things can happen, fast.
What's next for LandVolunteer
Driving adoption and looking at international expansion!
