Inspiration
As a landscape designer, our team sometimes rely heavily on our experienced botanical experts to decide on which plants to use. Without our plant experts, it took way longer for us to find the right plants for the site, the garden. In this way, we are struggled with the plant choices. The struggle is not just only happened to us but also people who just moved to a new place but would like to build their own garden, who are having plant growing issues.
What it does
3 easy steps to get your garden planting list. Step 1 is to type in your location, not very specific but just to get to know your city. Step 2 is to type in the color of the plant you would like to have, such as yellow, purple, white or pink. Step 3 is to type in your goal of the garden. If you prefer to have a all year green garden, then it might give you mostly evergreen plants. If you prefer to have a pet-friendly garden or want to have seasonal interest, just type in. Then you can just wait for the machine runs. Other than that, if you already have some plants in mind but you are not sure if it works or not, you can ask plant assistant Rootie for advice on plants choice.
How we built it
I built it purely based on Rockparty.
Challenges we ran into
How to simplify the process but provide enough info to AI generator to get a nice result is one challenges that we met. How to choose the main factors that influence which plant can grow but also consider how user experience the app is also one challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Very happy to build the first website without code and incorporate AI generator tools into the application. The overall process is very fast and smooth which we can easily do low-fi test
What we learned
AI is super cool and powerful. Love it but need to use it wisely.
What's next for BuildMe_a_Garden
From garden design side, it would be great to have planting list, hardscape list and budget, where to get it. From website side, the overall website is not fun and interactive enough. Maybe it would be better to show also the layout plan to facilitate contractor to know how to install. It also could be good to show each plant images to know who they look like other than just one overall garden look.
