LAIKA (Long-range Accurate and Integrated Kompanion Application)

The rise of augmented reality brought many new possibilities into the tech world: Virtual shopping, virtual furniture placement, Pokémon GO and a plethora of others. Here, we present a tool for architects to see how their plans work out in 3D in the real world. With high-precision measurement equipment from the market's behemoth Leica Geosystems (part of Hexagon) and a conventional webcam, we are able to place an object in space with remarkable accuracy. Thus, an architect's field work will change thorougly and become more vivid and tangible.

Since our project is named after the first dog in space, we especially encourage you to place a low-poly Laika in your office or personal space for you to have a virtual companion. We guarantee an experience that is truly out of this world!

Future work might be able to use a tablet or even a smartphone camera instead of a webcam connected to a laptop.
