LA Agua was created by a team of people who love to interact with their surrounding community. The idea behind LA Agua is to create a platform where individuals get the opportunity to collaborate, share, and compete with one another, with regards to the topic of water use management and the LA Drought. LA Agua integrates a series of other social media concepts. It uses a picture sharing feature, like Pinterest, but of landscapes that require less water and still look good, in order to inspire people to have more environmentally friendly lawns. It also allows users to track and share their water usage and reduction progress (via the water bill) with friends, like My Fitness Pal. It also integrates other useful and entertaining features, such as a competitive aspect, that allows users to feel pride in their sports team, university, or region. We plan to create competitions between certain teams or areas, for example, USC vs. UCLA or Venice Beach vs. Santa Monica, based on who reduces their water usage the most within a certain time frame. Then, the winning team will be rewarded with a discount at a certain company, or some other incentive. They will also have the pride of having beaten their rivals, as all true fans enjoy helping their team win.
