Inspiration

Creating short videos on mobile often requires switching between multiple apps for images, narration, music, preview, and export. I wanted to simplify this workflow into a single Android application that makes video creation faster, cleaner, and completely local.

What it does

LAFRYHI Video Factory is an Android application that allows creators to build cinematic short videos directly on their phone.

Users can:

  • Import images into a storyboard
  • Reorder or disable scenes
  • Add voice narration
  • Add optional background music
  • Preview the final result
  • Export a high-quality MP4 video locally

How we built it

The application was built natively for Android using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.

Media3 powers the local video generation and MP4 export pipeline.

Throughout development, OpenAI tools (ChatGPT and Codex) were used to accelerate development, review code, improve the UI, prepare documentation, and polish the final Build Week submission.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was keeping the workflow simple while building a reliable local export pipeline.

Another challenge was designing an interface that feels professional while remaining easy for first-time users.

What we learned
