Inspiration

ELNs, or electronic lab notebooks, are the industry standard for data collection in wet lab research. After doing data entry manually, often analysis is done disjointly too: think data in four separate instrument-specific files, two Excel analysis files, a random Python script for the figure you couldn't make in Excel... what if it was all in once place? Furthermore, what if you could get the complex figures and statistical analyses you want out of your data without having to move it out of where it's stored, and knew exactly who in your lab did what (including your AI agents)?

Presenting LabPlanet: where your data, analysis, and AI research assistants live in one place! 🌟

What it does

Buying licenses to a huge system like Benchling doesn't make sense for small academic labs, where data lives on an undergrads computer, in a graduate students lab notebook, and a PI's Teams messages.

LabPlanet is a better alternative, and I'll tell ya why!

🌟 Collaborate with lab mates, and version control analyses and data additions

  • Record data manually, upload files, or take a picture of your physical lab notebook
  • Analyze data with built in data science tools and AI coding assistants
  • Interpret results in-platform, not a separate R script

How we built it

I've been thinking about this idea for a while, especially after an internship at Genentech where every wet-lab scientist I knew had beef with Benching. I think this isn't perfect by any means, but has the potential to be a more integrated experience for both wet lab scientists and dry lab analysts.

Thank youuu, SpaceXSI team. Shoutout Cursor.
