Inspiration
Frustration with 15-20% marketplace fees; vision for fair, transparent pricing
What it does
Two-sided marketplace: customers book services, providers earn fairly, complete transparency
How we built it
Next.js 16, Aurora PostgreSQL, Upstash Redis, Server Actions, Well-Architected principles
Challenges we ran into
Portal rendering for dropdowns, N+1 queries (solved with cache-aside), distributed rate limiting, Aurora IAM auth complexity, economics modeling
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Full Well-Architected stack, distributed rate limiting, fairness-first model, graceful degradation, type-safe full-stack, professional branding
What we learned
Serverless needs proper patterns, caching is hard, fairness is defensible, React portals, type safety matters
What's next for LaborMesh
