Inspiration

Thought about the apps we wanted to use from a young age and brainstormed from there. We both have a strong interest in the fashion industry, but noticed the high barriers to entering it — especially for people without connections, experience, or an established platform. We wanted to create something that would make the industry feel more accessible, collaborative, and community-driven.

What it does

A fashion-focused integrated platform that connects brands, creators, and fashion enthusiasts in one place. Users can create a Creator, Brand, or Explorer profile, share and discover fashion content, and connect with others. How we built it

As our first hackathon, we worked with limited experience across different programming languages and used AI tools to support our development in Java, HTML, and CSS.
We iteratively developed and refined the prototype, committing our code to GitHub after testing and review.
We continued improving the platform by identifying and implementing additional features throughout the development process.
We finalised and deployed the prototype using Vercel.

Challenges we ran into

As first-time hackathon participants, adapting to the pace and technical demands of the event was challenging. We encountered several technical and implementation issues that required us to learn and troubleshoot quickly.
We initially experienced difficulties coordinating within a larger team, particularly around communication and workflow. We ultimately decided to continue as a team of two, which allowed us to work more efficiently.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Bringing Label to life through a video pitch that we are incredibly proud of and that reflects the creativity behind our project.
Developing and completing a functional prototype as a team of two with limited prior hackathon experience.

What we learned

We developed a stronger interest in technology and software development, particularly the technical problem-solving involved in building a product. We gained experience with the iterative and creative process of taking an idea from concept to a functional prototype.
Most importantly, we discovered how much we enjoy the process of building and experimenting with technology.

What's next for Label

Improve the platform's responsiveness and usability across different devices and screen sizes.
Continue refining the UI and overall user experience.
Adding a layer of strong security to protect the data that is stored.
Adding tier levels to user profiles to expand target audience.
Explore adapting the Label concept beyond fashion to other creative industries, creating a broader platform for community, collaboration, and opportunity.
