Image 1: This is an informal lounge to allow students to relax on comfy couches while having the ability to discuss with friends or do laptop work.
Image 2: These are sleeping pods designed to run along one of the walls in the lab. They will allow students to alleviate the lack of sleep by providing an environment to be able to nap. It will come in handy for long code-a-thons allowing participants the ability to catch a quick nap but stay in the lab.
Image 3: This is a collage of some images of what the ideal computer space would be. Opening the lab more with no dividers between separate computers giving more space and an open feel. Two monitors at each spot with adjustable stands to be able to get the monitors in the most comfortable position. Finally, new office chairs with cushion and good back support for maximal comfort for long sessions.
Image 4: This image represents some more group workspaces where people can collaborate on larger tables with each other. As well as many whiteboards to allow visualization and space to solve problems more socially.
The Layout Image: This layout colour coordinates to each of the above sections to get a feel for the layout. Overall this design is trying to increase comfort, allow for more group work, and open up space more with good lighting and furniture.
