Inspiration
Apps show you events that already exist, but none of them notice that six people a mile apart all want a beginner pottery night on Thursdays, so those people never meet and the studio down the street never fills that class. We built Weave to close that gap: a personal AI agent that learns what you like, finds people nearby who like it too, and turns shared interest into real local events.
What it does
You chat with your agent, or share a screenshot of Instagram's Your Algorithm screen, and it builds a profile you approve item by item, then matches you with compatible people and groups and explains each match. When enough nearby people want the same thing, the AI drafts an event for a local venue to approve, and after the event it suggests a follow-up for anyone who wants to meet again.
How we built it
Weave runs on Next.js 15, TypeScript and Supabase Postgres with Row Level Security on every table, and its AI layer uses Meta's Muse Spark and Llama models with Claude as a fallback. Every AI response is checked against a schema before it's used, and we built the app across six parallel workstreams, each with its own AI coding agent, against shared contracts merged by one integrator.
Challenges we ran into
Instagram no longer offers an API for personal accounts, and our first demand-engine seed found zero clusters, so we switched to screenshot imports and generated 300 people with planted interest groups. Muse Spark's reasoning mode broke our structured-output approach, and some flows that passed on the dev server failed in production, so we added a second JSON path and moved CI testing to the production build.
What we learned
Privacy only holds when it's enforced in code and the database, not in prompts, and AI output is only trustworthy once code has checked it. Agreeing on contracts first is what let six agents build in parallel and still fit together.
What's next
We want to let people text their agent over iMessage or WhatsApp and import interests from a TikTok data export. After that, we plan to pilot Weave with real venues near campus.
